Fisherman’s Wharf has more to offer than views and harbor seals—much that even locals don’t know about. Hidden in a nondescript warehouse on the water is Musée Méchanique, an antique penny arcade. Its interactive nickelodeons are pieces of history that show up parts of SF it may well want forgotten. Nearby is Boudin Bakery, where you can take a factory tour to watch the making of some of the best sourdough in the world. Buy it warm and fragrant, and go find some clam chowder to dip it in (the hotel, perhaps). Take a pew at the waterfront, and if it’s not too foggy, that big red suspension bridge won’t fail to impress.
