In his most ambitious project ever, designer Bill Bensley has taken glamping to the next level. This project born to save a 350-hectare wildlife corridor in Cambodia has come together as a one-of-a-kind, high-design, minimal intervention, truly wild experience.
The Shinta Mani Wild adventure begins the moment you step onto a 1960s-era army jeep to head off road into the Cardamom jungle. If you think that's cool, wait until you enter the camp itself—flying in via zip line. Life here is vigorous and thrilling, full of kayaking and biking and boating and boozing.
Not a tree has been cut or a grade altered. Yet all 15 tents in the camp, themed around Jackie O’s trip to Cambodia in 1967, pop with Bensley's maximalist style. Set by waterfalls that are the highlight of Wild’s riverside perch, the camp is the definition of luxury: timelessness, ease, and plenty of private, personal outdoor space. In our opinion, this may be the most special place ever.
In southern Cambodia, the Cardamoms cover the largest tract of uninterrupted rainforest left in Southeast Asia. Some of the world’s most endangered species still call these mountains home, including elephants, sun bears, pangolins, and pileated gibbons. All around the camp is dense jungle, atmospheric waterfalls, rivers, ziplines, and a distinct lack of roads. To get the most out of your stay, Shinta Mani provides an adventure butler to help realize your entire experience—whether that means leading you through the astounding Cambodian wilderness or preparing a relaxing waterfall picnic. Conservation is at the core of this resort and your guide will help you participate in meaningful activities like anti-poaching patrols or foraging excursions.
Travel with Impact
The Shinta Mani Foundation works to improve the lives Cambodian communities by giving Cambodians opportunities to overcome poverty through education, health care, and direct assistance. Shinta Mani Wild hires local workers to provide employment opportunities to local Cambodians who previously worked as poachers and loggers. The hotel also works with the Wildlife Alliance, an international non-profit organization that supports forest and wildlife conservation, funding a Wildlife Alliance ranger station right on the camp grounds.
