The Texas outpost of hip Getaway House is spread across 99 woody acres and features 32 two-person cabins and 8 four-person cabins. These thoroughly-serviced hideaway homes come with one or two queen beds, fresh linens and pillows, bathroom, shower, heater and mini kitchen stacked with provisions for purchase. Outside, you’ll find a firepit with firewood, a grilling grate, and picnic table and chairs. Let the dog off the leash, crack a cold one, roast some s’mores or a veggie burger on an open flame. Put away your phone. Connect with loved ones. You have everything you need right here. It’s not that much, is it?
Location
Located ninety minutes southeast of Dallas, in a forested area known for pine trees and rolling terrain, this cabin ground is truly the great outdoors, with hiking, fishing, and boating all around. Thirty minutes drive from camp is Lake Palestine, a good option if you're looking to add boating, waterskiing, or canoeing, to your escape. About the same distance is Cedar Creek Lake, one of the largest lakes in Texas, known for its catfish and bass fishing. If you’re a hiker or biker, try the aptly named Wolfpen Bike and Hike Trail, 40 minutes from camp. It’s a 4.4 mile, moderately trafficked loop trail around a lake, and a great choice for the family. Beaver Slide Nature Park, is another trail with lake, just a bit shorter, and no less pretty!
