Formerly the 19th-century Breslin Hotel, Ace has transformed the space into a creative Mecca. From the laid-back artistic appeal of the vintage decorations given a second life, to the focus on highlighting the history of the building with its original stained-glass ceiling lobby, this property brings it with comfort and concept.. Spacious rooms with their own pastiche-style design touches, plus top-notch dining on-site, beckon.. Head down to the lobby and just steps from the iconic oversized vintage American flag hanging above the front-desk, is one of Stumptown Coffee’s first New York outposts, tucked beside, much-celebrated, The Breslin (a nod to the hotel’s original occupant). The venture of James Beard Award-winning Chef April Bloomfield, The Breslin focuses on farm-to-table vegetable dishes paired with a nose-to-tail approach to butchery. The chicken liver parfait is an imaginative incorporation of the oft-forgotten meat, while local squashes take center stage among the veg. Most days, there’s a DJ in the lobby to keep the co-working space and after-hours vibe lively. There’s no place like Ace.

With roots in the LGBTQ+ community, to which the founders of Ace belong, creating welcoming spaces for guests and host communities is at the heart of Ace Hotel’s mission. Recently, they released a renewed policy on uplifting marginalized voices from across their organization, including the implementation of anti-racism and implicit bias training and revision of all wages to ensure that there is no pay bias. Turning to the host communities, Ace has also committed itself not only to fostering relationships with Black-owned businesses and suppliers to help their hotels run smoothly, but also to developing mentorship and career opportunities to all of its employees.
