Bisma Eight, Bali

Gorge views, breezy rattan, and tropical modern design complement poolside cocktails, mellow beats, and a serene vibe at this chic hotel set amid lush greenery in the heart of Ubud in Bali. Read on and fall in love with this gorgeous space. (Insider tip: Splurge on the Single Bedroom Private Villa. You won't regret it).

About

An impressive blend of industrial and organic materials sets the tone at this sleek hotel with permaculture principles. And there's plenty of space to stretch out.

In your suite, crisp white cotton sheets glow in the Bali sunlight. From your balcony, views can extend all the way to Mount Batukaru, making breakfast in bed a visual feast. To relax further, plunge into a traditional Japanese soaking tub, scattered with flower petals.

Later on, come upstairs for sundowners or perhaps a crispy grilled fish with local sambal, and lounge under an airy curtained pergola framing the dreamy scene. Slide into the infinity pool. Moving through the long light falling on the flat water as the sun turns orange makes for a sublime Bali moment.

Location

Set in the peaceful heart of town, Bisma Eight is perfectly positioned for exploring Ubud’s downtown dining and art scenes. Nearby, Taman Kuliner is the site of the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival each October, and the Food Festival each May. Temples abound. One of our favorite activities is Ubud Village Plate— an opportunity to discover Balinese cuisine and compound life by cooking and eating with a local family. Many Balinese families still live very traditionally, in compounds oriented to the sacred mountain, guarded by a demon-proof screened door and home to as many as five generations. Discover the rhythms of local life as you savor an intimate lunch or early dinner with a host family. A portion of the fee goes to charity.

Travel with Impact

A supporter of permaculture, Bisma Eight runs two farms. At the smaller one, guests are able to pick fresh produce, which finds itself on the menu at Bisma Eight daily, along with ingredients sourced from the hotel’s green roof terrace. The hotel’s focus on sustainability is one reason we love this spot for Hotel Credits.
