Eastwind’s natural setting provides wondrous scenery from all angles and at all times of the year. Dip into lakes, follow trails, and wander meadows of wildflowers, all against a backdrop of the Catskills mountains.
The hotel's king rooms, suites and studios invoke Scandinavian design energized by the local backcountry, but a simple A-frame cabin is the most memorable place to wake up. Throw open your door-flap to see the valley spilling out before you.
At the main house, there’s a cozy bar offering games of chess by the fire. And while there's no full restaurant—family style suppers and open fire cooking characterize the on property dining—the town of Windham has many great options.
Windham Mountain is one of New York's favorite winter destinations for skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing; and, in warmer weather, for mountain-biking and hiking. There are plenty of trails on the mountain to choose from. A trek to impressive Kaaterskill Falls is one of the easier hikes. On the Hudson River, the Saugerties Lighthouse is a landmark beacon built in 1869. The Five State Lookout offers far-reaching views of the Hudson River Valley and surrounding mountain ranges. But let’s be honest, Windham Vineyard & Winery is the place to be on a rainy day. You’ll find a selection of good wines from New York State and farther afield.
