Location
This Pacific gem is already well known by surfers worldwide. The break here is terrific, and it made Puerto Escondido a legend long before the local authorities invested in good roads to draw tourism to the area. Surfing, then, is the primary water sport hereabouts, and body boards and surf boards are available for rent. If you are surfing, remember that the undertows can be lethal, especially for the inexperienced. Other water craft can be rented by the hour from several of the beaches. Snorkeling is popular—an enjoyable pastime in these crystal clear blue waters. Puerto Escondido is also one of Mexico’s top locations for sports fishing.
