Jnane Tamsna is a true oasis, a blend of owner Meryanne Loum-Martin’s splendid interior design and husband Gary Martin’s blissful botany. Comprising five elegant houses, each with a pool and Moorish arches that frame bright blue skies and verdant gardens, the walled hotel is truly inspiring.

Dinner here is renowned. The passion that Chef Bahija brings to her Moroccan cuisine will awaken your own. Her inventive spin on traditional dishes, made with pristine, organic ingredients from these Edenic gardens will have you drooling. What to do here? Wander the 9-acre garden, beneath olive groves and date palms, play some tennis, browse the art gallery-cum-tearoom, or simply lunch and lounge by your choice of swimming pool.

Location

Though it's tempting to stay within the walls of the lush Jnane Tamsna, many tantalizing experiences await you in the surrounding landscapes. When you're ready to go afield, an illuminating university graduate is ready to take you off the beaten track. Explore the Palmeraie by bike or camel, traverse the old Arab Medina in a motorcycle sidecar, or venture beyond the walls of the old city into Berber villages and the stunning landscapes of the Atlas Mountains.

Marrakesh is only a 15 minute drive—the hotel will provide . Wander through a souk, a traditional bazaar; explore one of Marrakesh's many museums, such as La Musée Yves Saint Laurent or Maison de la Photographie; or tour the 14th century grounds of Ben Youssef Madrasa, a former Islamic school.

Hotel co-owner Gary Martin is founder of the Global Diversity Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports indigenous communities as they improve their livelihoods while maintaining their cultural landscapes, conserve their biocultural diversity and build their capacities.
