This boutique retreat in the medieval heart of Barcelona combines modern glass architecture, stylish vibes, and city views to die for. There's a quiet artfulness to the hotel interiors, but it's the rooftop pool and bar that will sweep you off your feet.
Yurbban Trafalgar’s modern architecture and well-done interiors make for a hotel that is hip without being pretentious, and as peaceful and stylish as the copies Kinfolk magazine in the lobby. You’ll find a wine and cheese reception daily in the lobby, too, and cute branded items in glass cases. In the mornings you’ll find notes on traditional cakes or pastries that have been laid out describing their history and provenance. It all speaks to the friendliness of the place.
The rooftop is our favorite part of the hotel. To sit by the pool any time of the year and look out over Barcelona is deeply relaxing. You can see the spires of nearby Gothic quarter, the winding streets of El Born, and the chic stores of Passeig de Gracia.
Step out of Yurbban Trafalgar and you’ll find yourself amid El Born’s charming narrow alleys lined with history: Roman columns, Jewish baths, gothic facades, and magical old plazas where cool young Catalans spill out of picture perfect bars. Here, it feels far from the tourist scene of La Rambla.
Kick off your day with a caffeine hit from the best coffee-shop in town, Nomad. Put Catedral de Barcelona on the to-do list—it looks like the villain’s house in a Disney movie and is as shadowy on the inside as it is spooky on the outside. Don’t miss the stunning cloister with its 13 resident geese. When you get hungry, La Boqueria, the biggest, brightest food market in Europe is just a short walk away.
